Online Education Provider Red Summa Saves 25% With Wildix

Red Summa is an international alliance of virtual higher education institutions that includes five leading online universities: the European Graduate Institute (Spain), the Corporación Universitaria Asturias (Colombia), the European Institute of Monterrey (Mexico), Summa University in Miami (Florida, US) and the Escuela Argentina de Negocios (Argentina). Currently, the organization has more than 120,000 students, who receive a high-quality university education exclusively through digital channels. For that reason, technology plays a key role in its daily operations.

Growth Outstrips Technological Capabilities

In 2020, demand for the courses offered by the universities that are part of Red Summa was growing at a double-digit rate. The organization had communication needs that its suppliers at the time could not meet, mainly videoconferencing systems, unified messaging and presence control to facilitate interactions with students and between teams in the various countries.

We were looking for something very quick and easy to implement because when we are advising a student to enter university, if we make things too difficult for them with communications, the rest is going to seem too complicated for them as well.

After a visit to the Spanish trade fair ASLAN, Red Summa contacted Daniel Asensio, Country Manager of Wildix Spain. He put them in touch with Sozias, a Wildix partner with a lot of experience in the Latin American market.

Progressive Implementation with 25% Savings

After obtaining assurances that the Wildix solution would be able to meet all of Red Summa’s requirements, a proof of concept was carried out in Spain. It was a success, so the solution was rolled out to the rest of the countries in the network finishing with Colombia, the university with the highest call volume.
The project involved engineers, pre‑sales and management of both Wildix and the telecommunications operators in the five countries where the organization is present: Spain, Colombia, Mexico, the United States and Argentina.

Wildix only sells through partners, and it’s this relationship with Sozias that proved critical to Red Summa: “The solution was very complex at a technical level and we needed a partner with the necessary knowledge and experience. Sozias has helped us a lot during the whole process of implementing the Wildix solution and continues to do so today,” says Miguel.
Currently, the Wildix solution handles some 650,000 voice minutes per month, with the expectation that it will continue to grow. Red Summa estimates that the implementation has resulted in cost savings of more than 25%.

Flexibility and High Satisfaction

Red Summa’s satisfaction with the Wildix solution is high, both for internal and external users. Internally, presence information and internal chat have increased operational efficiency, which has improved flexibility in daily work among the group’s professionals in the different countries.
The unified communications tools provided by Wildix have also led to an improvement in the quality perceived by students. “Our students have appreciated this technology because it brings them closer to our institutions,” states Miguel. “Being 100% digital, we have to provide them with tools that are very easy to use, that work at any time of the day, all year round. The Wildix platform offers this continuity and guarantees them.”
Looking ahead, Red Summa has plans to incorporate new tools based on Wildix technology. At the moment, the organization is evaluating the implementation of some artificial intelligence functions, such as call recognition and the automated generation of content summaries to share with students.
